I guess if I was honest with myself, I didn’t really expect to be downloading 11g database software on 11th of July, but to see my doubts confirmed is a little deflating:
Get Ready for Oracle Database 11g – July 11th 2007
It takes me back to a discussion with Tom Kyte at last years UKOUG where his estimate for the release date was, “Between 1st July 2007 and 31st December 2007”. đŸ™‚
I know Oracle need months of hype before a release, but I’ve still got my fingers and toes crossed for something earlier than Christmas.
Cheers
Tim…
personally I would expect to see anything before Open World. And maybe not even then….
Cheers, APC
That should be “wouldn’t”. Doh!
OpenWorld seems like a hard stop to me. If it’s not out by then, wouldn’t there be a ton of negative reaction?
I don’t see any other events scheduled other than New York so maybe hyping wasn’t their intent but I do agree with the others that Oracle Open World as being the target date.
I would also like to see at OOW what the response has been to “Unbreakable Linux 2.0” after a year.
