Hey Tim...

Spaniard as I am, You will not be surprised if I say I was wishing Rafa Nadal & Fernando Alonso would win their respective challenges. Neither of them won, but it was quite near for them both! ;-)

Cheers.

It makes me think he longs to be back in the old days when they played in slacks...

I guess he's just buying into the whole history of the even, which is kind-of nice in a way.

Cheers

Yeah. The Mens Final was superb. I thought Nadal had Federer in his sights when he led 3-0 in the 4th set. Then he had that 'knee' injury. I couldn't work out whether this was gamesmanship to get a minor rest break or to unsettle Federer (but as Nadal was on top at the time, I somehow doubt it).

At times, Federer looked a little out of sorts and, uncharacteristically, was even grumbling about line calls and HawkEye. Why he even uttered an expletive ('sh*t') which BBC had to apologise for :-)

Having said that, Federer clearly stepped up a gear to win in the fifth. The man is simply an amazing tennis player.

PS. I still laugh whenever I see his white blazer, long cream slacks and his embossed white/gold hold-all. It just seems completely out of keeping with his modest, personable, self-effacing attitude in interviews.
