The night before…

It’s the night before the first day of my Oracle PL/SQL Tuning workshop in Vienna. The flights were on time and pretty straight forward. I had a two hour stay at Dusseldorf airport, which was quite pleasant.

I’ve not seen much of Austria yet, but I can say it has a fantastic infrastructure. Everything looks so solid and well constructed. I’m looking forward to seeing a bit more over the next few days…

Cheers

  1. Hi Tim,

    >> I’ve not seen much of Austria yet

Austria is lovely! Make sure to make time to see it, you won’t regret it.

Take a day-trip to the “eagles Lair” or Innsbruk, amazing alpine scenery.

    They have kangaroos there too, I hear . . . . ; )

    Yeah, whatever . . . . .

  2. kangaroos in Innsbruck? Don, you sure your compass is not wonked?
Poor things would freeze to death!
    LOL!

Vienna is one of the nicest cities in Europe. If I ever had to go back to Europe,
it would be first in my list of places to live, equal with Madrid.

It is just so easy to move around by public transport it’s not even funny
to compare with anywhere else: they really got it sorted out!

And the whole feel of the place is just magic: take some time to see St.Stephans
and the Shonbrunn (sp?) palace, about as good as it gets, both of those.

And above all, have fun and stay safe!

Glad to hear this from you. Also, so near from your beloved Portugal…

    Cheers from Madrid.

    Carlos.

  4. As an Austrian it’s really nice to hear/read that about my country from all of you! 🙂

Tim if you have enough time you should really try to visit our mountains too.

    Best regards from Linz!

  5. Since Vienna is my hometown, I do hope that you have a good time here – and you’re lucky with the weather, spring seems to start early this year.

  6. Ditto on Vienna and Innsbruck. If you have a chance to see the Vienna Philharmonic, do. Early ’86 I wandered into the American Express office to see if they could get me a ticket, and they did. It turned out to be front row center – actually a bit too close, the flowers blocked some of the view, and I got a bit too much information about the lead violinist’s allergies – but fantastic.

’76 Women’s Olympic ski run is excellent.
