Not much luck with Oracle 11gR2 and Fedora 12. complains about:

The following packages failed to install :

Checking for libaio-0.3.106-i386; Not found. Failed <<<<
Checking for libstdc++-4.1.1-i386; Not found. Failed <<<<
Checking for libgcc-4.1.1-i386; Not found. Failed <<<<
Checking for glibc-devel-2.5-i386; Not found. Failed <<<<
Checking for compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-i386; Not found. Failed <<<<

I ignored them and got the database working once after installing the i686 packages. not sure how to get it working again since for some reason I broke my fedora install due to trying to install the nVidia drivers for Fedora 12.

...I have to admit, I'm no linux expert, so working out what libraries/packages to install was more of a guessing game for me really.

As you say, some of yours are just newer versions of the ones I used...which means yours is "better" and should probably have less issues.

Cheers

Hi.

Your list should work fine, and will no doubt prevent the prerequisite warnings. The only reason I used the versions I did is because they are from the matching 32-bit Fedora respository. It just felt "better" than using old versions. :)

Cheers

Excellent.

Pretty much same as FC10 but you've put the 64 bit library requirements in...slightly different to the ones I used on the FC10 x86_64 install (in the comments on your FC10 article)...I'll try it with your list and then mine and see if it makes any difference to the pre-installation checklist warnings disappearing or not.

I was going to try and beat you to it this time, but you're just too quick with your bionic elbow now!

Have a good trip to SF.

;-)

Cheers
