Hi.

If you log in as the "oracle" user on the console, you don't need to worry about the DISPLAY setting. The installer needs an X Server and the display is set automatically if you are running from the console. If you are logged to the console using any user apart from "oracle", or you are logged in via SSH and using a local X Server, then you *must* have DISPLAY set correctly.

It's much easier for me if you ask questions in the forum, not in these comments.

Cheers

Hi.

That's what the article listed in the post is for.

http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/11g/oracle-db-11gr2-installation-on-fedora-17.php

Remember, Fedora 17 is not a supported platform. If you are having trouble, you might prefer to use a VM and install Oracle on OL6.

Cheers

Hello,

it was my first install of Oracle 11.2.0.3 under Fedora. Always worked well for me with CentOS.

But, during install, I faced a linking error.
I solved this by doing instructions under this blog post:
http://www.sysdbaonline.com/2010/09/11gr2-install-fails-on-fedora-13/

Do you encounter this error when installing under Fedora?
I don't catch what I've done wrong....

Thanks
