Hi.

Roadkill: The picture on the home page is roadkill, except I've got my feet elevated. Imagine doing a toes-up side split, then rolling everything forwards, so now your body is on the floor and so are your feet.

3 seconds?: I can't see any reference to 3 seconds on the PNF page. I think maybe you've confused "3-5 reps" with "3-5 seconds"? Three seconds dos seem like a very short contraction, so if I've missed something can you point it out. :)

Cheers

im also curious as to why in pnf stretching you only contract for 3 sec and 30 sec. everyone else says 7-15 sec including some of the resources you listed.

Yeah, now I can hold a Wheel for 20 seconds, sometimes 25 seconds but that's it. Oh, BTW, is there any way to get it so my email doesn't come up directly into view? I click onto comments and I see my comment, your reply and then under Leave a Reply there's my email (right where it says "will not be published"...)

I'll let you know how the backbends go. I just got Elastic Steel for my splits, looking forward to it. Currently I can do a full front split on the left, and about 5 cm short on the right. But I'm nowhere near the full straddle!

Hi.

Thanks for the comments. I'll try out that exercise you mentioned.

Back work is really hard, mostly because the positions feel a little weird. I can do most stretches including splits for ages, but I find holding back bends for long periods of time really hard.

Cheers

Hi Tim,

I have the same issue with backbends so I was interested in your progress. I have been working on mine with:

-updog/cobra
-Passive stretch over a foam roller
-Hip flexor stretches
-Camel
and then I go into Wheel.

Like you, my upper back does not bend enough. My shoulders are pretty open but the ribs do not allow much movement/opening which I am trying to work on. I found a video by Andrey Lappa called Universal Yoga. What I like is he has upper shoulder/torso/limb stretches that are really effective. I am trying on where

-you kneel in Cat
-place chin on floor, arms stretched out in front of you like in Child's pose
-Try to get chest to touch the floor

I think (and hope!) this will help me open up the chest area more to improve my backbend. I have learned from you that I should be doing my stretches more often. I was only doing them about 2-3 times a week.
