Physical Memory Requirement when installing multiple compone

Physical Memory requirement for Grid Installation is

At least 2.5 GB of RAM for Oracle Grid Infrastructure for a Cluster installations, including installations where you plan to install Oracle RAC.

Physical Memory Requirement for Oracle Management Service and Oracle Management Agent is as follow

Installation Type Physical Memory (RAM)
Oracle Management Service 3 GB

Oracle Management Service with ADP ManagerFoot 1 6 GB

Oracle Management Agent (standalone) 512 MB

Now If I'm to install every mentioned component above, should I add the physical memory requirement together or take the maximum of the above?

During this installation I used a virtual machine with 6G RAM and 100G disk space. The swap size was set at 8G and the firewall and SELinux were disabled.

it seems that the physical memory requirement seems to be the maximum of the above requirements. Can anyone care to share with me how do we conclude the total physical memory requirement?

Yes. Add them all up and use that much memory.

Question: I assume you are installing the cluster components because you are using ASM right? I would not expect you to install all this stuff on a RAC node, if that was your plan.

In a real situation, hardware permitting, I would install the DB on one machine and the grid control software on another.

don't know what you mean as my understanding of grid control is not good.

from the above what I realize is that grid control is installed in a normal one node rdbms.

what I realize is that in RAC with DB Control, if we want to use enterprise management control, you can only access from the primary node where you installed . If you want to access OEM on the other nodes, then you have to deconfigure and reconfigure again. At any one time, you can only access oem from one node.

so that's why intend to change from db control to grid control, so that I can access enterprise manager on any node. that's my intention: to access oem from any node.

I don't really get what you mean, based on this situation:

a two node cluster with grid control, how can that be practically achieved?

on each rac node, install the following:
grid control
rdbms for storing data not management repository
management agent.

on another server install the following:
management agent
oms
rdbms for storing management repository

Hi.

I think you have to be very clear what you are trying to achieve.

1) You want a functioning 2-node RAC installation.
2) You want to monitor that RAC installation using grid control.

To get this you need:

1) Your 2 node RAC installation installed and working, with the dbconsole deconfigured.
2) A totally separate server running a grid control. That is the repository database and the grid control software. This is nothing to do with the RAC node.

So for a 2-node RAC monitored by grid control, you actually need 3 servers.

Once grid control is installed on the third server, you will install an agent on each of the RAC nodes. That is the only additional software that is installed on those. They do not hold the repository database and they don't have a management server running on them.
