why credential need OS admin access

Tim,
I installed OEM 12c and started to configure it. Sysamdins just dont give the OS access info. I understand theree is a security concern, but you need all these password to setup OEM target.

I used to installed 10g grid control. It is the same way to setup a target with OEM 12C. I could not find any doc to convince them that you have to provide this OS logon info for OEM to work.

I just say, OEM needs all resources inluding OS to monitor, optimize and provide commendations. Still hardly convince any one

Hi.

What OS access do you think you need? I do not have root access on any servers. I have to ask sysadmins to run the root.sh scripts for me for all installations. You can install agents on remote machines without root access, so long as the sysadmins will run the root.sh for you.

If you don't have access to the "oracle" user on the host you can't really use grid control.

Thanks for your input, I will keep eye on it and give you an update for my real case. I am kind of disagree, but I dont have anything to prove it yet.

Hi.

I'm not sure what you mean by "kind of disagree", but what I said is definitely true as I've been installing Cloud Control agents at work on Linux and HP-UX and I have no root access on any servers. I complete the install and ask the sysadmins to run the root.sh scripts. This is why I leave the "Privileged Delegation Setting" blank, telling the push feature I do not have root (or sudo) access.

Can you explain what bit you "kind of disagree" with?
