Data Guard with Cloud Control 12c

Postby peterx » Thu Jun 06, 2013 2:21 am

hi Tim,

http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/license.121/e24474/ch10_base_functionality.htm

I know we can use cloud control 12c to monitor our licensed DB with no extra license.

Do you know any extra license needed, if I use cloud control 12c to create a data guard setting with
2 licensed oracle nodes, one for primary and one for standby(not active data guard).

Do you know the cloud control license will allow us to monitor, switchover, failover and also reinstat the DB ?

thanks

Hi.

Provided your cloud control WebLogic installation and database are only used for Cloud Control (and optionally the RMAN catalog), there are no license costs associated with Cloud Control itself.

Where Cloud Control is concerned, it's all about what you are licensed for on the database and app servers. If you are licensed appropriately to run and Oracle database on one server and a standby on another, then it is fine to use Cloud Control to create and manage that standby.

Cheers

Hi.

It's always a good idea to check back with them from time to time, but don't let them fool you into paying money for Cloud Control itself. :)

Cheers
