Installing Oracle Grid Infrastructure

Postby ioask4it » Sun Jun 02, 2013 9:46 pm

Hi
I am trying to install, using "Oracle Database 11g Release 2 RAC On Linux Using NFS" tutorial.
I have NFS server configured (RHEL 6.4) and the 2 nodes are running Oracle Linux 5.4, into an vmware workstation.

I downloaded http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/datab ... 96607.html
and when I install, I get this error:
srvctl start nodeapps -n rac1... failed, on both nodes!

http://postimg.org/image/vqvj9os17
And, after that, I get netca error

The log is:

And the log is:

Hi.

That is not going to work. The version of Oracle you get from OTN is not supported on RHEL6.x. It doesn't work for RAC installations. You need a minimum of 11.2.0.3 for installation of RAC on RHEL6.x. You can only download that from MOS.

Also, you are following an installation guide for the wrong OS. That article is for OL5.x (RHEL5.x). Although this article is not using NFS, it does include all the prerequisites for an OL6.x (RHEL6.x) installation, so you should get hold of 11.2.0.3 and do the prerequisites from this article, before using the NFS stuff from the other article.

If you don't have a support contract and can't get hold of 11.2.0.3, then you will need to do the installation on OL5.x (RHEL5.x), as described in the article you were originally following.

Cheers

I am trying to install it on a OEL 5.4.
The NFS server is on a RHEL 6.4. I guess it doesn't matter that!
So, the installation is on a OEL 5.4, afterall

Hi.

OK. That shouldn't matter. Just make sure the export options on the NFS server and mount options on the database server are correct. You need to make sure your NFS server is running as V3, not V4 or it won't work.

In this case, I guess I have to return to my stock answer:

So, in DAtabase Control, where are the tablespaces/tables/views, indexes, etc? To manage them like in the old OEM?
Thanks

Hi.

Server Tab, then the Tablespaces link. You'll find the other stuff round there also. To be fair, it's ages since I've used that tool. I use Grid Control, and now Cloud Control now.

Cheers
