ORACLE11g R2 RAC to RAC Data Guard Sync via separate public

Hi Tim Hall

OS Platform:- RHEL5.5 64bit
Database Version:- 11.2.0.2
CLUSTER:-2-Node RAC Database
DATA SYNC: RAC to RAC Dataguard

Site-1 Configuration
2-Node RAC Database
All the applications of Site-1 is communicate with the Database through the Site-1 Oracle RAC default local site public network1/vlan

Site-2 Configuration
2-Node RAC Database
All the applications of Site-2 is communicate with the Database through the Site-2 Oracle RAC default local site public network1/vlan

We don't want to do Communication of Data Guard Sync via public network1/vlan
so here There is no network communication through the Site-1 default local site public network1/vlan and Site-2 default local site public network1/vlan

Site-1 and Site-2 Database Servers is accessible via separate public network2/vlan
So We want to do Communication of Data Guard Sync via separate public network2/vlan
We have available the separate vlan for this configuration

Please provide your expert valuable suggestions and comments

Can we add second listener in different public network which is in diff vlan then existing default public network in site-1 Oracle RAC?
Can we add second listener in different public network which is in diff vlan then existing default public network in site-2 Oracle RAC?

Hi.

Sure. You can define listeners on any address and as long as the tnsnames.ora entry on the calling server has the correct hostname/IP in it, it will connect just fine.

Can you please provide your confirmation regarding Configure Listener in RAC for above requirements

Do we required the separate listener for public network2 or we can also do configure inside same listener?
