I am unable to connect to my database using oracle developer suite It's giving an error that

"ORA-12154:TNS could not resolve the connect identifier specified"

How to solve this problem or can't we connect to database using older version of suite

Hi.

Under the developer suite installation you will find a "network\admin" directory. In there you will need to create (or amend if it already exists) a tnsnames.ora file with an entry for the database you are trying to connect to. For example,

Code: Select all
ORCL =
  (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
      (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = localhost)(PORT = 1521))
    )
    (CONNECT_DATA =
      (SERVICE_NAME = orcl)
    )
  )

Cheers

Hi.

Looks like you are missing the network configuration settings in you ORACLE_HOME/network/admin directory. This gives and overview of them.
