$IF DBMS_DB_VERSION.VER_LE_10_1 $THEN...this won't compile on version < 10, so I guess this example don't make much sense..altought article is useful

Hi.

Conditional compilation was only introduced in 10g, so the whole thing will fail to compile in 9i.

The point is, if the version is 10gR1 you do one thing, if it's 10gR2 you do another. This code is not catering for pre-10g.
